This book stems from the round table discussion "Global Art History as a Philosophical and Political Issue", hosted as part of the World Congress of Philosophy 2025, held in Rome, entitled "Philosophy across Boundaries". Participants explored the main theme of the conference in relation to the role of art as a possible universal symbolic language. They asked themselves whether such a language is possible and whether it is also possible to write its history. These questions, addressed from different perspectives, involved aesthetics, art history, postcolonial studies, and history of philosophy. The result was a dialogue on the exchange between the center and the periphery. Contributions of Ardian Ndreca, Emmanuelle Spiesse, Ivana Randazzo, and Santi Di Bella.
