The volume on Assisi, a city in the heart of Umbria, is a valuable collection of images and explanations of the iconographic apparatus of the Basilica of San Francesco, from the Upper to the Lower, with particular attention to the frescoes by Giotto that tell the life of the Saint. A complete itinerary that, starting from the famous Basilica, whose construction and decoration have contributed the most important artists of the fourteenth century, then passes through the Palazzo dei Priori to the Temple of Minerva and also explores the surrounding monuments, as the Rocca Maggiore, the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, with inside the Porziuncola, the Sanctuary of San Damiano, the Eremo delle Carceri. The volume ends with an appendix that narrates the catastrophe of the earthquake of 1997 with the works that were lost.
